Enhancing Thin Masonry Veneer: Metal Support Systems
This session will examine the design and performance of metal backing systems that mechanically support thin masonry veneers. Join us to compare various systems and traditionally laid face brick masonry as well as review critical design and installation factors.
You'll also learn about performance tests that establish code compliance for proprietary thin veneer support systems and explore strategies for water penetration, structural performance, thermal efficiency, and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 285 approval.

Achieving Optimum Envelope Performance with Ceramic Rainscreen Facades
SK1N is an adaptive building envelope solution suitable for installation on walls of new and existing buildings. Ceramic rainscreens are a versatile façade cladding option that combine generations of building science knowledge with the proven durability and beauty of fired ceramics. The result is an advanced cladding that can makes significant contribution to a high-performance building envelope. This program reviews how resilient, maintenance free ceramic rainscreens, made from natural and recycled materials minimize water penetration, resist fire, benefit project schedules and achieve energy efficiency requirements.
Learning Objectives
1. Identify common components of ceramic rainscreen assemblies and their functions
2. Describe how ceramic rainscreens achieve superior water penetration resistance.
3. Discuss how the attributes of ceramic rainscreens contribute to important aspects of highperformance envelope design, such as project schedule, fire resistance and environmental impact

Brick Product &Technical Specifications
This presentation will elaborate upon the information typically presented in a brick product technical data sheet, using typical Glen-Gery technical data sheets as examples. An overview of frequently encountered American brick standards will be provided. This will be followed by in-depth descriptions of the individual tests reported on in the data sheet, as well as the interpretation and significance of the reported values and their respective limits. You will earn 1 LU/HSW credit for attending.
This presentation should teach attendees-
- Analyze a typical brick technical data sheet to find physical properties related to brick durability.
- Apply appropriate ASTM brick standards and based on intended use and building application.
- Compare the requirements of “Grade”, “Class”, and “Type” applications within common brick standards.
- Explore how tests used to determine commonly reported brick properties are performed.
- Describe the significance of the reported values and how they relate to product performance.

Precast, prestressed concrete projects deliver construction speed, offsite fabrication in controlled facilities for year-round construction, design flexibility with advanced casting and molding capabilities, reduced project risk combining multiple trades into a single contract scope, and reduced building energy consumption, improved indoor occupant comfort, and resistance to fire, blast, mold, and potential storm damage.
